Nintendo DS / Lite / Game Boy / Advance question/comparrison?

Question: Want to buy my son a personal gaming system (7 years old). What is the difference between the Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, DS & DS Lite? Here's what I believe - the Game Boy is an older generation of system and not to be considered. My real question then is the "lite" moniker. To me "lite" implies a reduced functionality version, but I don't see a 'regular' DS anywhere. Someone please explain. Also, the bundles, worth it? What do I want with this? Do i need to be able to plug it in? We use rechargeable AA/AAA batteries, so if it runs on those and the life is fine, then I don't need a car charger or such. Does it play only DS Lite games or also Game Boy titles? Thanks in advance for the help.

Answer: Both the DS Lite and regular DS do exactly the same thing (they play the same games and have the same features, in that area nothing has changed). A DS Lite is lighter, has a much, much brighter screen, a better sylus is included, it is smaller and it looks sleeker. The DS Lite plays all Nintendo DS games AND GameBoy Advance games. It runs on an inbuilt rechargable battery so all you will need is the charger (included), no new batteries required. GameBoy Advance and GameBoy aren't worth looking into as they are last generation and are nowhere near as good as the DS Lite. With DS Lite you CAN PLAY ALL THE GAMEBOY ADVANCE GAMES and the new DS games. The DS Lite is basically a redesign of the regular DS and it keeps the functionality the same but does it better. The bundles for the DS Lite should be very good, try GAME, Gamestation or Amazon.co.uk
