Heart attack and no response for twelve minutes?

Question: I know some one who was in cardiac arest, and it took the paramedics twelve minutes to revive him. He is now on full life suport. Is there any chance of a recovery with out brain damage and how long can a brain remain with out oxygen?

Answer: It would depend on how long it took before CPR was initiated. I know of one patient who was in asystolic for 20 minutes, but CPR was continuous throughout and he recovered without brain damage.
